Beloit, WI -- Marie Bonine, a sophomore goalkeeper for the Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team from Stillwater, Minnesota, has earned her second Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season. The recognition was announced on Monday afternoon.
Bonine helped the Bucs lock up the No. 3 seed in the MWLC tournament. She was 2-1 last week. She tallied three ground balls with four saves in a narrow 9-8 loss to Aurora, nine saves in a 12-4 win over Wartburg, and 13 saves and two caused turnovers in a 15-5 win over Cornell College.
For the week, Bonine registered 26 saves and a .591 save percentage to anchor the Bucs defense. On the season she is 5-4 with 83 saves and a .546 save percentage.
The Buccaneers (8-6, 5-2 MWLC) play their final home game against Carroll University on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and then travel to Augsburg College on Saturday to close the regular season.
