Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team erased an early deficit but saw visiting North Central College make their own comeback in the final minutes for an 11-10 win at Strong Stadium Tuesday.
The Cardinals jumped out on top with the first three goals of the game before Libby Storrick got Beloit on the board at the 18:03 mark. After NCC scored twice more to make it 5-1 with just under 11 minutes left in the half the Buccaneers strung together three straight goals - from Michelle Dillon (Storrick), Kelley Flint (Hannah Drexler) and Marci McClenon - to pull back within 5-4. North Central scored the final goal of the half with 3:26 left to lead 6-4 at the break.
Three straight Beloit scores to open the second half - by Arisbeth Sanchez, Drexler and Storrick - put the Bucs up 7-6 eight-plus minutes into the second half. After the Cardinals tied it at 7-all at the 20:15 mark Dillon scored two straight goals, assisted by Sanchez and Drexler, respectively, and the Buccaneers led 9-7. NCC rallied from behind this time with two goals to tie it at 9 with 7:13 remaining. Storrick (Flint) scored at 6:31 to give Beloit a 10-9 lead but North Central scored twice in the final three minutes, including the game-winner with 1:10 left, to close the scoring.
