Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Lacrosse team got off to a quick start and never looked back in a 14-5 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference win over Illinois Institute of Technology at Strong Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Michelle Dillon and Libby Storrick had a hand in the first four goals of the game, all coming in the first seven-plus minutes. Dillon scored the first three, the first two assisted by Storrick, before Storrick got her own score, assisted by Dillon, to make it 4-0. Arisbeth Sanchez scored at 22:24 unassisted before Hannah Drexler scored back-to-back in just over a minute, the second assisted by Dillon, to make it 7-0 with just under 20 minutes left in the first half. IIT ran off three straight scores to pull back within 7-3 midway through the half but Beloit responded with five straight scores to close out the first 30 minutes. Drexler (Kelley Flint), Dillon (Storrick), Storrick (free position), Storrick again and Casey Ryan (Drexler) made it a 12-3 advantage at the break.
The second half was much quieter than the first. Vanessa Pena scored unassisted eight minutes in to make it a 10-goal spread before the Scarlet Hawks scored at 10:31 and 9:53 to pull back within 13-5. Drexler notched her fourth goal of the game, unassisted, with 3:16 remaining to close out the scoring.
