Bucs Drop Home Opener To Spartans

November 16, 2017

Beloit, WI -- The Bucs were unable to open their season at home with a win, as the visiting Aurora University Spartans came away from Flood Arena victorious, winning 74-57.

For the Bucs, Junior guard Shelby Kline made the most of her busy night, leading the Bucs with 24 total points. Kline went 7-17 from the paint, and finished a perfect 100% from distance, hitting all three of her 3-PT attempts.

Right behind her, Junior guard Candace Cunningham has been on fire for her first two games on the court for the Bucs. Cunningham, also a star on the women's soccer team, added 15 of her own points, driving hard to the hoop every time she had the ball. Resulting from her wanting the inside lanes to the bucket at such a high level, Cunningham got to carve out a spot on the charity stripe, hitting 9 of her 13 attempts.

Senior forward Melissa McLean was busy on the boards, collecting 9 rebounds to lead both teams on the court. McLean finished the night shooting 3 of 10 to add her 6 points to the scoreboard.

The Bucs don't have much of a rest, as they head up the road to battle University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday. Tip is scheduled for 4 PM.
