Beloit, Wis. – The Women’s Basketball Team struggled to produce offensively Wednesday Night at Flood Arena, shooting just 26% (10-38) from the field in a contest they eventually lost to the Red Hawks of Ripon College by a final score of 30-47.
After a promising 1st quarter which ended with the Bucs trailing by only 2 (11-13), the Bucs’ offense couldn’t find their groove, failing to register more than 9 points in the final 3 quarters. Compounding the shooting issues for the Bucs was the turnover disparity between the two teams, with Beloit committing 28 in comparison to the Scots’ 17.
Still within striking distance after the break (19-29), the Bucs managed only 2 points in the 3rd quarter, essentially ending their bid at a comeback. They did, however, end the game on a positive note, outscoring their opponents in the final frame (9-8).
Junior Shelby Kline (19’ Rockton, Ill.) posted 9 points to lead the Bucs in low-scoring affair.
The Bucs travel to Illinois this weekend to take on the Fighting Scots of Monmouth College on Saturday, January 27th. Tip-off is at 3:00pm
