Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team rebounded from a slow start in trying to end St. Norbert College's stranglehold on the all-time series but faltered late in a 67-58 loss in Flood Arena Wednesday night.
The Green Knights charged out to a 16-3 lead after one quarter as the Buccaneers made just 1-3 shots while SNC shot 53.8% from the field. But a 20-1 run in the first six minutes of the second quarter turned things around as Beloit led by as much as six. St. Norbert regained a slight lead late in the half but Shelby Kline's three-pointer, her fourth of the half, tied it at 32-all heading to the break. The Bucs shot 75% (12-16) in the second quarter and ended the half at 61.9% (13-21).
The game remained tight through the third quarter, with six lead changes, before a late 5-0 SNC run put them up 47-43 after three. There were two ties in the fourth quarter, the last at 54-54 with 4:02 remaining, before the Green Knights closed with a 13-8 run, including seven free throws, to secure their 16th straight win in the series.
Beloit shot 45.8% (22-48) for the game while SNC finished at 46.5% (20-43) and made 22-30 free throws.
