Rockford, IL -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team used a dominant third quarter to pull away in a 74-64 non-conference win at stateline-rival Rockford University Tuesday Night.
Rockford held a 17-16 lead after the first quarter, putting off a 10-4 run by Beloit in the final three minutes. The Buccaneers continued their run in the first five minutes of the second quarter, outscoring RU 12-3 to move up 28-20 midway through the period. The Regents responded with a 12-6 run over the next four minutes to pull within 33-32 inside the final minute before the Bucs held on for a 34-32 lead at halftime.
The third quarter, where Beloit had a 23-12 advantage, decided the game. After Rockford had taken a 40-36 lead three-plus minutes in, the Buccaneers went on a 14-0 run over the next four minutes to build a 50-40 lead with 2:29 left in the period. The Bucs led 57-44 heading into the fourth quarter. The Regents never got closer than nine after the early minutes of the final quarter, with Beloit holding a double-figure advantage for the final minute-plus for the victory.
Laura Panicali and Nora Polaski both put in 16 points for the Buccaneers, with both also grabbing six rebounds. Jaylan Dunn added a career-best 12 points while Julia Moll scored a career-high 10 points, dished out a career-best six assists and made six steals. Lauren Glaser also had a career-high six assists.
Beloit gets back into Midwest Conference play this weekend with a pair of road games, playing at Grinnell College Friday night at 5:30 p.m. before traveling to Monmouth College on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tip.
