De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team couldn't come back from a tough second quarter on the way to a 95-59 loss at Midwest Conference-leader St. Norbert College Saturday afternoon.
After a close opening quarter that ended with the Green Knights ahead 25-19, SNC out-scored the Buccaneers 29-6 in the second period to take control of the game. Beloit was just 2-12 from the field in the quarter while committing 11 turnovers as St. Norbert raced to a 54-25 halftime advantage.
The Bucs could get no closer than 28 during the second half, with the deficit reaching a high of 44 at 95-51 with 3:31 remaining in the game.
The Buccaneers finished at 35.3% shooting (18-51) from the field while SNC shot 55.6% (35-63).
Lana Wieseman was the lone Buc in double figures with 19 points. She made 7-8 free throws in the game to become Beloit's all-time leader in made free throws with 397, surpassing Lauren McNanna's mark of 393. Nora Polaski added eight points and five assists.
Beloit travels to Lawrence University on Tuesday night for a 7:30 p.m. MWC game.
