Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team used a fourth-quarter comeback to grab a tight 70-68 win over Illinois College Wednesday night in Flood Arena.
The Buccaneers held a narrow 17-15 lead at the end of the opening quarter. An even closer second quarter ended with Beloit still holding the lead, 34-33, heading into the lockerroom.
The Lady Blues used an 11-3 run out of the break to take the lead, extending it to 53-48 heading into the final quarter. The Bucs answered in the fourth period, closing the last four minutes on a 15-6 run, capped by Laura Panicali's two free throws with three seconds left that broke a 68-all tie. IC missed a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded to seal the victory, the first win over Illinois College since January 5, 2013.
Lana Wieseman finished with 26 points before fouling out with 30 seconds left. Panicali had 18 points and four assists while Nora Polaski added 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Shelby Kline made five steals to go with her seven points.
Beloit now begins a three-game road trip, starting Saturday at Midwest Conference leader St. Norbert College. Action begins at 4:00 p.m.
