Grinnell, IA -- Lana Wieseman, a 6'1 forward for the Beloit College Women's Basketball team from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (Badger), has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week for the week ending January 17.
Wieseman became the Buccaneer Women's Basketball program's all-time leading scorer on Saturday at Illinois College, hitting a second-quarter three-pointer to eclipse Stacy Schmidt's (1988-92) mark of 1,462 points. Wieseman finished the game with 32 points and 17 rebounds, the sixth time in her career she scored 30-plus points and the second time she's had 17 or more rebounds. She has scored 1,486 career points with eight regular season games remaining.
She was 14-29 from the field in the game, including hitting 4-6 three-pointers, in 36 minutes of play. Earlier in the week she scored 13 points in a loss to MWC-leader St. Norbert College.
The Bucs play at Lake Forest College on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. before hosting Grinnell College on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
