Turnovers, Shooting Woes Lead to Bucs' Loss to League-Leading SNC

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team couldn't recover from a late first half run by St. Norbert College and dropped an 85-54 decision to the Midwest Conference leaders in Flood Arena Tuesday night.

The Bucs stormed off the tip with the first eight points of the game before a 17-5 Green Knight run in the final five minutes of the first quarter, including five points in the final two seconds, gave SNC a 17-13 lead at the end of one.  Beloit stayed close in the second period until St. Norbert went on a 9-0 run over a three-plus minute stretch to move up 32-19 with 2:39 left in the half.  The Green Knights held a 38-23 advantage at the break.

SNC stormed out of the lockerroom on a 12-6 run to push their lead to 50-29 at the 4:34 mark and built it as high as 26 before settling for a 64-40 lead thru three quarters.  St. Norbert outscored the Buccaneers 22-4 in the paint in the quarter.  The deficit got a large as 36 points at 85-49 in the fourth period before the Bucs scored the final five points of the game.

The Buccaneers shot 37.5% (18-48) for the game and were out-scored 52-18 in the paint.  St. Norbert, who finished at 53.4% (39-73) shooting for the game, scored 25 points off Beloit's 27 turnovers.

Lana Wieseman, battling foul trouble nearly the entire game before fouling out with just under six minutes remaining, was the lone Buccaneer in double figures with 13 points, moving within nine of becoming the all-time leading scorer in Beloit Women's Basketball history.  Mykenzie Larsen had nine points and a team-high four assists while Megan McCabe also had nine points and Tegan Rock a career-high eight points.  Laura Panicali grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Bucs look to snap their four-game losing streak on Saturday at Illinois College.  Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
