Third Quarter the Difference in Buccaneers' Setback

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Women's Basketball team saw Lake Forest College break away in the third quarter and hold on in an 81-74 Midwest Conference loss in Flood Arena Wednesday night.

The Foresters used an 8-2 run in the first period to turn around a slim Beloit lead and grab a 21-17 advantage after the first 10 minutes.  The Bucs kept it close through an even second quarter that sent LFC to the lockerroom with a 39-35 lead.

Lake Forest put together an 8-0 run to close out the last 5:00 of the third quarter to take a 57-46 lead into the fourth quarter.  The Buccaneers pulled back within 60-59 with a 13-3 run in the first four-plus minutes of the fourth period but could never regain the lead.  LFC made 8-8 free throws in the last 42 seconds to hold on.

The Bucs finished at 45.8% (27-59) shooting for the game while Lake Forest was at 50% (29-58).  

Lana Wieseman scored a game-high 26 points, 17 in the second half, and grabbed seven rebounds, while Laura Panicali had 21 points, including three three-pointers.  Shelby Kline added 10 points and Nora Polaski 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Beloit looks to get back in the win column Saturday afternoon at Knox College.  Action begins at 4:00 p.m.
