Bucs' Shooting as Cold as Outside Temp in MWC Loss

January 7, 2015

Lake Forest, IL -- Despite playing inside, the Beloit College Women's Basketball team couldn't shake off the frigid temperatures they brought in with them as they fell at Lake Forest College 59-44 on Wednesday night in their first game of 2015.

Beloit shot 23.6% (13-55) from the field and were 2-16 from three-point.  The Foresters shot just 40% from the field but doubled the Bucs' made field goals with 26.

The Buccaneers held a 13-10 lead at the 12:58 mark of the first half before going ice-cold the rest of the 20 minutes, making just one field goal and two free throws in nearly 13 minutes.  Lake Forest scored just 13 points during that same span for a 23-17 halftime advantage.

Beloit didn't warm up much in the second half - to 25% from the opening half's 22.2%.  They were still within eight at 38-30 with 12:29 left.  LFC then went on a nine-minute 19-6 run to give them a 57-36 with just under four minutes remaining and coasted in.

Laura Panicali had 10 points as the only Buccaneer in double figures.  Nora Polaski had eight points, as did Lana Wieseman, who battled foul trouble the entire game.  Kelsey Horvath finished with a team-high seven rebounds and added four assists.

The Bucs return to Flood Arena for the first time since mid-December on Saturday afternoon when they host Knox College at 3:00 p.m.
