The Beloit College volleyball team fell in a twinbill of action Friday at the ACM Tournament hosted by Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.
The Bucs opened the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Carleton College (25-18, 25-17, 25-23). The highlight of the match was the third set. Beloit hammered down 14 kills while committing just five errors in the set for an attack percentage of .290.
Sophomore outside hitter Eva Laun-Smith bolstered the Buc offense with 14 kills in the contest. Junior setter Paige Wimbrow recorded 15 assists and senior Shelby Strehlow led Beloit’s backcourt defense with 11 digs. Up front, first-year middle blocker Allison Faber posted two assist blocks.
In the second match of the day, the Bucs fell to Luther 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-16). Laun-Smith led the team with seven kills and added seven digs in the match. Wimbrow dished out 14 assists. Defensively, Faber tallied a solo block and two block assists while junior Molly Muller added three block assists in the contest.
The Bucs continue play in the ACM Tournament tomorrow with matches against Macalester College and St. Olaf College at noon and 4 p.m. respectively.
