Beloit, WI -- The Bucs finished their home portion of their schedule in style, defeating MWC foe Lake Forest in four sets this evening at Flood Arena. With the win, Beloit moves to 8-15 overall and 3-5 in MWC play. One more opportunity for a conference win awaits this coming weekend when Beloit travels to De Pere to take on St. Norbert.
In a terrific battle which featured numerous lead changes, and big point swings, the Bucs held on, winning 25-19, 19-25, 25-18, 25-23. Throughout the night, there was never more than a 5 or 6 point cushion for either team.
Defensively, libero Abby Gessell had a huge night, picking up 41 digs in the contest, leading all players on the court.
Offensively, two Bucs chalked up double digit kills again, with senior Jaylan Dunn finishing the night with 13, while sophomore Amanda Baran had 10.
Dunn, in the final appearance on the volleyball court at home in her career, also finished off the game, earning the final kill in the match in set 4 to win the game.
Sophomore setter Paige Wimbrow had a busy night, setting up her teammates a staggering 31 times in the contest. Wimbrow also got in on the defensive front, picking up an assisted block, and 5 digs.
Beloit will travel to St. Norbert this friday for their final MWC match of the season. Afterwards, the Bucs will take a quick trip south to Rockford University on the 31st, to finish the match from earlier in the season that was suspended due to a light fixture breaking in Rockford's gym.
