Milwaukee, WI -- The Buccaneers were unable to turn the tides after their first game at the MSoE Invite, falling to Maranatha Baptist 3-1. Set scores (25-21)(20-25)(25-19)(25-22).
The Bucs almost hit the century mark in digs, notching 98. Freshman Eva Laun-Smith once again led Beloit in that category, with a team high 28. Sophomore Abby Gessell has stayed on her heels constantly throughout the season, registering 20 in game 2 in Milwaukee.
Beloit also led Maranatha Baptist in Total Team Blocks, 9 to 7, and were one shy of tying the Sabercats in Kills, 36 to 37.
Beloit stayed tough the entire way through, keeping it as close as 3 points in their final set of the night. Beloit's single match win was a 5 point difference, 25-20, in the second set.
The Buccaneers will wrap up the final day of the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational Volleyball tournament tomorrow, with a rematch against Alverno at 10 AM. Their final game of the weekend will be against Central College at 2 PM.
