Lake Forest, IL -- The Beloit College Volleyball team kept battling after a tough first set but fell 3-0 in an Midwest Conference match at Lake Forest College Tuesday night.
LFC took the match 25-15, 25-22, 25-22.
The Foresters scored 19 of the first 22 points in the first set to take control early. The Bucs regrouped with a small run late and got the deficit back to nine before Lake Forest closed it out. In set two a 9-4 run by LFC midway through gave them a five-point lead. Beloit battled back to within two but the Foresters scored two of the last three points to move up 2-0. The Buccaneers led 19-15 in the third set but Lake Forest closed with a 10-3 run for the match.
Jaylan Dunn's six kills led the attack, with Amanda Baran getting five and Taylor Lewis four. Paige Wimbrow had 12 assists and two aces. Baran also had two aces. Abby Gessell made 13 digs, Wimbrow and Josie Lindsey-Robbins nine each and Baran eight.
The Buccaneers close out their home season, and the MWC schedule, Friday night when they host St. Norbert College for Senior Night in Flood Arena. Action begins at 7:00 p.m.
