Bucs' Comeback Falls Short at Ripon

Ripon, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team had their sights set on a comeback at Ripon College but it wasn't meant to be in a 3-1 Midwest Conference loss Friday night.

RC took the match 25-16, 25-12, 17-25, 25-14.

An 11-0 run by the Red Hawks in set one erased a one-point deficit and put them in control for the lead in the match.  In set two Ripon scored 21 of the 30 points to take control on the way to the 2-0 lead.  A 9-4 closing run by the Buccaneers got their comeback rolling in set three before RC used a 13-4 run in set four to secure the match win.

Taylor Lewis and Chloe Fleming both had nine kills while Jaylan Dunn had eight to lead the attack.  Paige Wimbrow had 19 assists and Shelby Strehlow had 12, with Wimbrow adding two aces.  Fleming had 16 digs to lead the defense while Wimbrow, Strehlow and Abby Gessell had 10 each.  Dunn had three blocks, one solo.

Beloit has some time off before hitting the road for an MWC double weekend, beging next Friday at Knox College at 7:00 p.m.  They play at Illinois College at 12 noon Saturday.
