Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team dropped a pair of home Midwest Conference matches on Friday and Saturday, falling to Grinnell College 3-0 on Friday night and to MWC-leader Cornell College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
But the weekend was brightened by the 10-year reunion of the 2006 MWC Championship team on Saturday, with six team members and two coaches returning to the site of their accomplishment in Flood Arena.
The league-leading Rams won 25-13, 25-19, 25-16 Saturday, using a 15-4 run in set one; an 11-5 closing run in set two; and a 13-5 run in set three.
Taylor Lewis had seven kills and Amanda Baran six. Paige Wimbrow made 10 assists while Shelby Strehlow had three aces. Abby Gessell made seven digs.
Back on Friday, Grinnell won 25-18, 25-11, 25-13. A closing 7-4 run took set one while a 10-4 opening run got things rolling in the second set. In set three a 9-0 run midway thru decided the match.
Baran had eight kills and Lewis seven in the match while Wimbrow had 18 assists. Gessell made 19 digs and Baran 13. Molly Muller had three block assists.
Beloit concludes its four-match homestand on Tuesday night when they host Lawrence University. Action begins at 7:00 p.m.
