Monmouth, IL -- The Beloit College Volleyball team were turned back 3-1 in the Midwest Conference opener Saturday afternoon at Monmouth College.
The Fighting Scots took the match 25-15, 17-25, 32-30, 25-23.
MC had a 10-5 run early in the opening set to jump on top but the Buccaneers went on an 11-3 run to win the second set. Monmouth scored the last two points to take a close set three and then closed out the match win by scoring five of the last eight in set four.
Amanda Baran led the Buccaneer attack with 10 kills while adding 18 digs and two aces. Paige Wimbrow had 21 set assists. Taylor Lewis had three blocks, one solo, and Abby Gessell made 34 digs to lead the defense.
The Bucs head back to non-conference play on Tuesday night when they host Marian University in a 7:00 p.m. match in Flood Arena, the beginning of a four-match home stretch.
