Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team had their backs against the wall in their first home match since September 6. But they dug deep and came from behind for a 3-2 win over Rockford University in Flood Arena Tuesday night.
The Bucs took the match 28-26, 24-26, 20-25, 25-18, 15-13.
After a 24-24 tie, the Buccaneers scored four of the last six points for the first set win. In set two the Regents pulled nearly the same trick, scoring four of the last seven points to even the match. RU took the lead in the in set three, closing with a 6-3 run.
Beloit started their comeback in set four, evening the match at two apiece with an 8-4 closing run. The Bucs then secured the win in set five with five of the final eight points after a 10-10 tie.
Amanda Baran had 19 kills in the match, tying for the third-most in a match since the 2008 season. Jaylan Dunn added 14 kills. Paige Wimbrow had 21 set assists and Shelby Strehlow 19 while Wimbrow and Taylor Lewis both had a pair of service aces. Abby Gessell finished with 30 digs, Baran 17, Josie Lindsay-Robbins 13 and Strehlow 10 while Dunn added six block assists and Chrissie Clayton four.
The match was the team's final tune-up before they open Midwest Conference play Saturday at Monmouth College. Action begins at 1:00 p.m.
