Milwaukee, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team got themselves back on the winning track Saturday with two match wins at the Alverno College Quad, defeating Mount Mary University 3-0 and Alverno College 3-1.
The Buccaneers took the Mount Mary match, their first of the day, 25-19, 25-13, 25-8, recording 41 total kills and a .337 attack percentage. Jaylan Dunn led the way with 12 kills and a .550 kill percentage while Taylor Lewis had eight kills. Paige Wimbrow had 22 set assists and Shelby Strehlow 10. Lewis, Amanda Baran and Abby Gessell all had two service aces while Gessell also had a team-high 18 digs to lead the defense. Dunn added four block assists.
Beloit and Alverno split the first two sets in their match, with the Bucs winning set #1 25-23 and the Inferno taking set #2 25-20. The Buccaneers then earned the win with a 25-11 win in set #3 and 25-22 in the deciding set. Baran finished with 15 kills, Lewis 10 and Dunn eight as the squad posted 47 total kills in the match. Wimbrow had 23 assists and Strehlow 14. Lewis had four of the team's 12 aces, with Baran adding three. Gessell made 13 digs and Baran 10 to pace the defensive effort. Dunn had three blocks, one solo, while Meghan Reilly had three block assists.
The Buccaneers host Rockford University on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Flood Arena.
