Chicago, IL -- The Beloit College Volleyball team had a tough weekend in Chicago, finishing 0-4 at the North Park University Classic.
The Bucs fell 3-0 to both Aurora University and host-North Park on Friday. Saturday they dropped a 3-1 decision to MWC-foe Knox College before closing the Tourney with a 3-0 loss to UW-River Falls.
Amanda Baran and Jaylan Dunn both had six kills to lead the attack against Aurora. Shelby Strehlow made 28 set assists while Baran added 10 digs and Abby Gessell nine.
Dunn recorded eight kills while Baran, Malerie Mech and Taylor Lewis had six each against North Park. Paige Wimbrow had 10 set assists and Dunn added three service aces. Baran and Gessell both had five digs.
After Knox won the first set Saturday Beloit took the second set only to see KC win close matches in the last two sets. Dunn had 11 kills while Meghan Reilly had nine and Mech and Baran eight each. Wimbrow made 25 set assists and Strehlow 11. Mech had three of the team's nine service aces. Gessell had 17 digs and Josie Lindsey-Robbins 12 and Dunn added four block assists.
Lewis' three kills led the way in the team's final match as head coach Dawn Redd got everyone playing time. Gessell finished with 12 digs and Lewis added four block assists.
The Buccaneers travel to Milwaukee next Saturday for the Alverno College Quad, playing Mount Mary University at 10:00 a.m. and the host team at 2:00 p.m.
