Rochester, NY -- The Beloit College Volleyball team rebounded from a first-match loss to win their second and final match, earning a split at the University of Rochester Invitational Friday night.
The Bucs fell to the College of Brockport 3-0 in the opener before going the distance in a 3-2 win over Utica College.
In the second match Beloit battled back from down two games to one with a 25-15 win in game four and a match-clinching 15-8 victory in game five.
Malerie Mech led the attack with 16 kills while Jaylan Dunn had 13 and Amanda Baran 11. Paige Wimbrow made 23 set assists and Shelby Strehlow 18. Dunn added five service aces and Wimbrow three of the team's 14 total. Baran also had 24 digs and Abby Gessell 18.
In the loss to Brockport, Dunn had six kills and Baran five while Gessell made 13 digs.
The Buccaneers are now off until next Friday, when they play in the two-day North Park University Viking Clash, taking on Aurora University and the host school Friday night and then MWC-foe Knox College and Wisconsin-River Falls on Saturday.
