Lexington, KY -- The Beloit College Volleyball team, under head coach Dawn Redd, is one of a record-setting 762 teams to be honored with the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 academic year.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
The 762 recognized teams breaks the record total of 757 from 2014-15.
The Bucs were one of three Midwest Conference teams (from the 2015 season) honored, along with Carroll University and Cornell College. They were also one of 10 NCAA Division III Wisconsin teams recognized. In total 140 NCAA Division III teams were on the list.
Beloit opens their 2016 season at the Buc Blast Tournament in Flood Arena on Friday, September 2, at 4:30 p.m. The Tournament continues Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
