Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Volleyball team finished up their 2015 season on the winning side to highlight Senior Day in Flood Arena Saturday, defeating Mount Mary University 3-0.
The Buccaneers fell at Ripon College 3-1 on Friday night in their final Midwest Conference match.
The Bucs defeated MMU 25-18, 25-21, 25-22 after the Red Hawks won Friday 25-15, 22-25, 25-13, 25-9.
Celebrating Bethany Stavrakas' last match with the Bucs Saturday, Beloit used a 13-3 run midway through and held off a rally by the Blue Angels to win the opening set. A 4-1 spurt gave the Buccaneers some breathing room in set two and they scored four of the last five points to make it 2-0. In the deciding set the Bucs scored six of the final eight points after trailing 20-19 to record the match victory.
Stavrakas led Beloit with nine kills while Shelby Strehlow had seven. Breea Rogalla had 12 assists and Strehlow 10. Abby Gessell made 16 digs and Strehlow 11.
Back on Friday night a 10-4 run out of the gate spurred RC to the first set win. The Buccaneers bounced back strong in set two, getting out to a 13-5 advantage and then holding RC off down the stretch with four of the final six points. Ripon closed set three on an 11-2 run to take a 2-1 lead in the match and then built a 12-3 lead in the fourth set and were never threatened to take the match.
Taylor Lewis had 10 kills while Strehlow and Jaylan Dunn added nine each. Rogalla had 30 assists. Gessell made 13 digs and Strehlow 12 while Dunn had seven block assists.
