Buccaneer Volleyball Comeback Comes Up Short at Lake Forest

Lake Forest, IL -- The Beloit College Volleyball team knew they had a comeback in them on Saturday at Lake Forest College but came up short in a 3-1 loss.

LFC took the match 25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18.

The Foresters took control of the opening set with a long 13-4 run and coasted in for the win.  In the second set the Buccaneers led 19-15 before LFC scored 10 of the last 13 points to take a 2-0 lead.

A 13-4 run of their own put Beloit up 18-9 in the third set.  Lake Forest got back within one late before the Bucs closed it out.  In the final set the Buccaneers were down 18-11 but battled back to get within four only to see LFC score four of the last five points for the match victory.

Taylor Lewis led the attack with 10 kills and a .320 attack percentage.  Bethany Stavrakas added seven kills and Jaylan Dunn six.  Breea Rogalla had 27 assists and two aces.  Lewis also had two aces.  Defensively, Abby Gessell led the way with 17 digs and Stavrakas 11.  Dunn had three block assists.

Beloit returns to Flood Arena for Breast Cancer Awareness night on Tuesday when they host Carroll University.  Action begins at 7:00 p.m.
