Men Win Beloit Relays, Women Fourth; Six Earn Firsts

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field hosted the annual Beloit Relays over the weekend, their only home meet of the season, with the Men winning their side of the meet and the Women finishing fourth.

Six Buccaneers earned first-place finishes:  Jose Gutierrez with four wins in the 400m and 110m Hurdles (the 110m Hurdles in record time), the Long Jump, and in anchoring the 3x110m Hurdle Shuttle Relay; Melissa Pelkey in the 400m; Ellie Waddle in the 800m; Emily Sneed in the 10000m; Dan Arkes in record time in the 5000m; and Noah Sisson in the 10000m.

Earning seconds were Aleeshah Heinzen in the Long Jump; Jake Westrich in the 400m; Jack Klobucar in the 1500m; Joe Peacock in the 10000m; and Dakotah Revai in the Hammer.  EDarning thirds were Matthew Miller in both the 400m and 110m Hurdles and Revai in the Discus.

The Women's 4x100m Relay of Jourdan Plautz, Pelkey, Sophia Miliotis and Heinzen and 4x400m Relay of Waddle, Pelkey, Miliotis and Plautz were second and the 4x800m Relay of Waddle, Britta Johnson, Pelkey and Frances Knaggs was third.

Joining Gutierrez on the winning 3x110m Hurdle Shuttle Relay were Miller and Jacob Cunningham.  The Men's 4x400m Relay of Gutierrez, Klobucar, Dewight Walker and Charles Sandberg and the 4x800m Relay of Sandberg, Kyle May, Arkes and Klobucar were second and the 4x100m Relay of Gutierrez, Walker, Broakeen Sheffield and Johnny Dormon was third.

Beloit competes at the Loras Open on Friday in their final tuneup before the Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships May 12 and 13 at Knox College.  Action at Loras gets underway at 3:00 p.m.
