Men Finish Fourth, Women Fifth at Dubuque Invite

Dubuque, IA -- The Beloit College Outdoor Track & Field team continued their march toward the Conference Meet with the Men finishing fourth and the Women fifth at the University of Dubuque Invite on Friday.

Melissa Pelkey, Frances Knaggs, Jose Gutierrez and Matthew Miller turned in the top Beloit performances with second-place finishes, Pelkey in the 800m, Knaggs in the 5000m, Gutierrez in the 400m, and Miller in the 110m Hurdles.

Also earning points for the Buccaneers were Alberto Torres, third in the 5000m; Aleeshah Heinzen, fourth in the Triple Jump; Britney Johnson, fifth in the Pole Vault; Jack Klobucar, fifth in the 400m; Miranda Simes, sixth in the Pole Vault; Dan Arkes, sixth in the 1500m; Miller, sixth in the 400m Hurdles; Josie Zabran, seventh in both the Shot Put and Javelin; Joe Peacock, seventh in the 5000m; and Dakotah Revai, eighth in the Hammer.

The Men's 4x100m Relay of Gutierrez, Klobucar, Courtney Bingham and Miller was fifth and the Women's 4x100m Relay of Jourdan Plautz, Pelkey, Sophia Miliotis and Heinzen was sixth.

The Bucs now get ready for the annual Beloit Relays at Karris Track & Field at Strong Stadium next weekend.  Action begins Friday at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
