Gutierrez Earns MWC Outdoor Track Performer of the Week Laurels

Grinnell, IA -- Jose Gutierrez, a sophomore sprinter/hurdler from Beloit (Memorial) for the Beloit College Track & Field team, has been named the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track Performer of the Week for the week ending April 16.

Gutierrez kept up his great performances in the hurdle events at the Benedictine Relays, the largest meet in the Midwest (30-plus teams).  He broke his own Beloit College record while finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a :53.80 and took fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in :15.07.  His 400m time ranks 13th in the nation and leads the MWC by nearly three seconds while his 110m time ranks second in the league and  36th nationally.

Gutierrez holds the school record for all the Hurdle events, both indoors and outdoors.

Coming up next the Bucs travel to the Dubuque Invite on Friday before hosting the Beloit Relays on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29, at Karris Track & Field at Strong Stadium.
