Grinnell, WI -- Aleeshah Heinzen, a sophomore from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, competing for the Beloit College Track & Field team, has been named the Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week after a double-record-setting day at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge last Saturday.
In her final tune-up before the MWC Indoor Championships this coming weekend, Heinzen broke both the Indoor Long Jump and Triple Jump records, winning the Long Jump and finishing third in the Triple. She actually broke the Long Jump mark on her first effort and then broke her own record in each of her next two jumps, finishing with a record of 17'8 1/4. The new Triple Jump mark is now 35'8. Both records were previously held by Stephanie Hansen, who set the Long Jump mark in 1991 and the Triple Jump record in 1990.
Heinzen is the top-ranked Long and Triple Jumper in the MWC going into the Championships.
The MWC Indoor Meet begins at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Illinois College in Jacksonville. It continues on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
