Heinzen, Gutierrez Win Titles; Women 7th, Men 8th as MWC Outdoor Championships Wrap Up

Mt. Vernon, IA -- The Beloit College Track & Field team brought home two event champions from the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Cornell College over the weekend.  The Women finished seventh and the Men eighth in the team race.

Aleeshah Heinzen won the Triple Jump while Jose Gutierrez grabbed the 400m Hurdles to lead the Buccaneers.

Gutierrez also finished second in the 110m Hurdles and Emma Koenig was third in the 5000m.  The top three finishers in each event earn All-MWC recognition.

Also earning points for the Bucs were Ellie Waddle, fourth in the 800m; Heinzen, fifth in the 100m; Melissa Pelkey, fifth in the 800m; Jacob Gray, fifth in the 5000m; Linnae Capuder, sixth in the Pole Vault; Dewight Walker, seventh in the Triple Jump; and Alberto Torres, eighth in the 3000m Steeplechase.

The Women's 4x100m Relay of Angie Earley, Sophia Miliotis, Jourdan Plautz and Heinzen was fourth; the Women's 4x400m Relay of Waddle, Pelkey, Miliotis and Heinzen was fifth; and the Men's 4x100m Relay of Matt Kreiser, Gutierrez, Walker, and Jason Dormon was eighth.
