Buccaneer Men Win Rainy Beloit Relays, Women 5th; Teams grab 6 First-Place Medals

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team didn't let a raw, rainy Saturday dampen their efforts in the Beloit Relays, with the teams winning six events and the Men taking top team honors.  The Women were fifth.

Earning the top spot on the podium for Beloit were Emma Koenig with a Relays record in the 5000m; the Women's 4x400m Relay of Ellie Waddle, Melissa Pelkey, Moi Yamazaki and Shelby Kline; Jacob Gray with a Relays record in the 5000m; Jose Gutierrez in the 400m Hurdles; and the Men's 4x100m and 4x200m Relays of Matt Kreiser, Gutierrez, Dewight Walker and Jason Dormon.

Also earning points for the Buccaneers were Waddle, second in the 800m; Aleeshah Heinzen, second in the Long Jump; Gutierrez, second in the 110m Hurdles; Alberto Torres, second in the 3000m Steeplechase; Brendan Taylor, second in the Shot Put; Heinzen, third in the 100m; Jourdan Plautz, third in the 200m; Jack Klobucar, third in the 800m; Linnae Capuder, fourth in the Pole Vault; Heinzen, fourth in the Triple Jump; Dan Arkes, fourth in the 10000m; Mingyi Zhang, fifth in the 10000m; Dakotah Revai, fifth in the Javelin; Jake Westrich, sixth in the 200m; Kreiser, sixth in the Javelin; Westrich, seventh in the 400m; Adam Beardsley, seventh in the 10000m; Revai, seventh in the Discus; Medy Xu, eighth in the Long Jump; and Walker, eighth in the Triple Jump.

For the Women, the 4x800m Relay of Waddle, Pelkey, Koenig and Caroline Murton was second; the 4x200m Relay of Miliotis, Earley, Plautz and Heinzen was third; and the 4x100m Relay of Earley, Miliotis, Plautz and Heinzen was fourth.

For the Men, the 4x400m Relay of Kreiser, Guierrez, Klobucar and Westrich was second; the 4x800m Relay of Sean Beckford, Klobucar, J. Gray and Khusrav Mahkamov was third; and the 3x110m Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Gutierrez, Kreiser and Beckford was third.

Beloit travels to the Carroll Pioneer Invite next Saturday for their final tune-up before the Midwest Conference Championships on May 13-14.
