Dubuque, IA -- The Beloit College Outdoor Track & Field team grabbed five first-place finishes at the University of Dubuque Invite Saturday, with the Men tying for fourth and the Women finishing sixth in the team standings.
Emma Koenig had the biggest winning finish, breaking the Beloit 5000m record with an 18:04.91. The previous mark of 18:05.20 was set by Karen Jones last year.
Also winning their events were Aleeshah Heinzen in the Triple Jump; Alberto Torres in the 5000m; and Jose Gutierrez in both the 110m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles.
Also earning points for the Bucs were Ellie Waddle, third in the 1500m; Dan Arkes, third in the 5000m; Linnae Capuder, fifth in the Pole Vault; Heinzen, fifth in the Long Jump; Matt Kreiser, fifth in the Javelin; Jake Westrich, sixth in the Long Jump; and Dakotah Revai, seventh in the Hammer and eighth in the Javelin.
The Men's 4x100m Relay of Kreiser, Gutierrez, Dewight Walker and Jason Dormon was third; the Women's 4x400m Relay of Waddle, Sophia Miliotis, Melissa Pelkey and Heinzen was fourth; and both the Women's 4x100m Relay of Angie Earley, Miliotis, Jourdan Plautz and Heinzen and the Men's 4x400m Relay of Kreiser, Gutierrez, Jack Klobucar and George Gray were fifth.
The Buccaneers host the two-day Beloit Relays next weekend at Karris Track & Field at Strong Stadium. Action begins Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
