Buccaneer Men 8th, Women 9th with 3 First-Place Finishes in Outdoor Opener

Waukesha, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team got their Outdoor season underway Saturday at the Wisconsin Private Colleges Meet, run at Carroll University.  The Men finished eighth of 13 teams while the Women were ninth of 12 teams.

Three Buccaneers earned first-place finishes: Emma Koenig in the 5000m; Alberto Torres in the 10000m; and Jose Gutierrez in the 400m Hurdles.

Other top-eight finishes were turned in by: Ellie Waddle, second in the 1500m; Gutierrez, second in the 110m Hurdles; Aleeshah Heinzen, fourth in the Triple Jump; Dakotah Revai, fourth in the Hammer; the Women's 4x100m Relay, fourth; Dewight Walker, sixth in the Long Jump and eighth in the Triple Jump; Matt Kreiser, sixth in the Javelin and seventh in the 400m Hurdles; the Men's 4x100m Relay, seventh; and Brenden Taylor, seventh in the Shot Put.

Beloit will compete at the Benedictine Eagle Relays next Friday and Saturday in Lisle, Illinois.  Action begins Friday at 12:00 noon and Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
