Galesburg, IL -- The Beloit College Track & Field team had three All-Midwest Conference recognitions on the first day of the MWC Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday.
George Gray grabbed a runner-up finish in the Mile and Jacob Gray was third in the 5000m to both earn individual All-MWC honors. The Women's Sprint Medley Relay of Angie Earley, Sophia Miliotis, Melissa Pelkey and Ellie Waddle also took third in their race.
George Gray's 4:20.82 time in the Mile was the second-fastest in Beloit Men's Indoor history, just behind Jon Dahlgren's record 4:18.84 from 1982.
Also earning points for the Bucs were Heinzen, fourth in the Long Jump; Emma Koenig, sixth in the 5000m; the Women's 4x200m Relay of Earley, Sophia Miliotis, Jourdan Plautz and Heinzen, sixth; the Men's 4x200m Relay of Matt Kreiser, Jose Gutierrez, Dewight Walker and Jason Dormon, seventh; the Men's Sprint Medley Relay of Gutierrez, Kreiser, George Gray and Jack Klobucar, eighth; and Brenden Taylor, eighth in the Shot.
Gutierrez also qualified for Saturday's 60m Hurdles finals with the third-fastest time in the prelims.
The Championships continue on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. with finals in 24 events.
