Bucs Split Weekend at UW-Whitewater; Gray, Gutierrez Set Records

Whitewater, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field teams split up over the weekend, both competing in meets at UW-Whitewater that featured many of the top squads in the Midwest Region.

The Men finished 10th at the "Squig" Converse Invite on Friday while the Women had the same final place at the Warhawk Classic Invite Saturday.

Friday night the Buccaneer Men got a pair of record-setting performances, with George Gray setting a new mark in the 800m, finishing in 1:56.64 to break Evan McLeod's 1999 record of 1:57.29, and Jose Gutierrez setting a new standard in the 60m Hurdles prelims with an :08.49, giving him both the 55m and 60m Hurdle records in back-to-back meets.  Gray finished fifth in his event while Gutierrez was seventh in the Hurdle finals.

The 4x200m Relay of Matt Kreiser, Gutierrez, Jason Dormon and Jack Klobucar finished third.

On Saturday Ellie Waddle recorded an Indoor personal-best of 2:20.01 to finish fifth in the 800m while Emma Koenig ran a season-best 10:53.50 to finish eighth in the 3000m.

The 4x200m Relay "A" team of Angie Earley, Aleeshah Heinzen, Melissa Pelkey and Sophia Miliotis finished fourth while the "B" team of Jourdan Plautz, Abby Gessell, Linnae Capuder and Moi Yamazaki finished sixth.

Beloit travels to the University of Chicago next weekend for the Windy City Invite.  Action begins at 11:30 a.m.
