Kenosha, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team turned in another good early-season performance at the UW-Parkside Home Opener Meet Saturday, with the Buccaneer Women finishing second of 10 teams and the Men third of 11.
Ellie Waddle set a new record in the Mile with a winning 5:24.37. Jose Gutierrez broke the record in the 55m Hurdles in the prelims with a :07.98 and then broke his own record while winning the finals with a :07.91.
Other first-place finishes were turned in by Linnae Capuder in the Pole Vault and both Women's and Men's Distance Medley Relays. Earning second-place finishes were Dakotah Revai in the Weight Throw, Abby Gessell in the Triple Jump, and the Women's 4x200 and 4x400 Relays.
Thirds were recorded by Emma Koenig in the 5000m; Aleeshah Heinzen in the 55m; and the Men's 4x200 and 4x400 Relays.
Fourth-place finishes came from Alberto Torres in the 5000m; George Gray in the Mile; and Dewight Walker in the Triple Jump.
Finishing fifth were Courtney Bingham in the 55m Hurdles; Jamie Manchen in the Mile; and Heinzen in the Long Jump.
Completing the scoring for the Buccaneers were sixth-place finishes from Angie Earley in the 55m; Jacob Gray in the Mile; and Jourdan Plautz in the Long Jump.
The Bucs continue their Indoor season next weekend at UW-Whitewater, with the Men competing in the "Squig" Converse Invite on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and the Women at the Warhawk Classic at 12 noon Saturday.
