Waddle, Jones, Winkler Post Wins in Final Tune-Up for MWC Outdoors

Waukesha, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team brought home three first-place finishes from the non-team-scoring Carroll University May Invite on Saturday in their final competition before next weekend's Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships.

Ellie Waddle won the 400m, Karen Jones took the 1500m, and Darth Winkler won the Discus for the second straight week to pace the Bucs.

Also earning top-eight finishes for the Women were Jada Viner, second in the 400m; Karly Clippinger, second in the 100m Hurdles; Rachel Monroe, second in the Long Jump and third in the Triple Jump; Angie Earley, third in the 100m; Maggie Cress, third in the 1500m; Jourdan Plautz, third in the Long Jump, fourth in the 100m and eighth in the 200m; Cherrelle Phone, fourth in the Pole Vault; Shujie Xu, fourth in the Long Jump; Emily Sneed, fifth in the 800m; Aurelia Hoft-March, fifth in the Pole Vault; Mingyi Zhang, sixth in the 800m; Arielle Kimmell, sixth in the Shot Put and seventh in the Hammer; and Caitlin Paterson, eighth in the 800m.

Both the Women's 4x100m Relay of Earley, Plautz, Monroe and Nadia Hecker-O'Brien and the 4x400m Relay of Eaddle, Hecker-O'Brien, Jada Parker and Earley finished third.

Top-eight finishes for the Men were turned in by Sean Beckford, second in the 400m; Khusrav Mahkomov, second in the 5000m; Matt Kreiser, second in both the 110m and 400m Hurdles; Dakotah Revai, second in the Javelin, third in the Hammer; fifth in the Shot Put and seventh in the Discus; Carl-Lars Engen, fourth in the 400m Hurdles; Dewight Walker, fourth in the Triple Jump; Alberto Torres, seventh in the 1500m; Bellande Bertrand, seventh in the Hammer; Josh Smith, eighth in the 1500m; and Kyle May, eighth in the Javelin.

The Men's 4x100m Relay of Crit Stanley, Kreiser, Jordan Garcia and Walker was third and the 4x400m Relay of George Gray, Beckford, Walker and Garcia was fourth.

The Buccaneers head to Ripon College next Friday for the start of the two-day MWC Outdoor Championships.  Action begins at 12:30 pm on Friday and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
