Platteville, WI -- The Beloit College Track & Field team continued their Indoor season Saturday at the non-team-scoring UW-Platteville Pioneer Open.
Karen Jones set the pace for the team with a record-setting 3000m. Finishing fourth, Jones ran the race in 10:46.95, eclipsing the 2008 Beloit mark of Amanda Hammermeister by three-plus seconds.
Ellie Waddle won the 800m in 2:25.22, leading three Bucs in the top eight finishers in the event. Anna Wenzel was second in the 5000m in 19:57.43 and Rachel Monroe was second in the Triple Jump with an effort of 30' 11 3/4. For the Men, George Gray finished second in the Mile in 4:32.05.
Also earning top-eight finishes were Mingyi Zhang, 3rd in the 5000m; Simon Kafka, third in the 3000m; Emily Sneed, seventh in the 800m; Emma Koenig, seventh in the 3000m; Matt Kreiser, seventh in the 60m Hurdles; Bellande Bertrand, seventh in the Weight Throw; and Caroline Murton, eighth in the 800m.
In the Relays, the Men's 4x200, of Jordan Garcia, Kreiser, Dewight Walker and Sean Beckford was second; the Women's 4x200m of Angie Earley, Monroe, Deja Parker and Nadia Hecker-O'Brien was third; the Women's Distance Medley of Sara DeLong, Hecker-O'Brien, Sara Brown and Sneed was third; the Men's 4x400m of Beckford, Garcia, Gray and Kreiser was third; the Men's Distance Medley of Beckford, Diego Bueno, Geoff Stevens and Josh Smith was third; and the Women's 4x400m of Hecker-O'Brien, Parker, DeLong and Waddle was sixth.
The Buccaneers compete at the University of Chicago Windy City Invite next Saturday. Action begins at 11:00 a.m.
