The Beloit College Buccaneers swimming and diving teams both placed fourth at the Wisconsin Private College Championships today held at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI.
The women's team was led by Briana's Stoffregen who won two events, the 200 yard IM (2:14.21) and broke the school record which she had set two weeks ago (2:14.46), and the 100 fly (1:00.89). Briana Stoffregen was also a member of the 400 freestyle relay comprised of B. Stoffregen (Loves Park, IL), Alex Kohn (Freeport, IL), Somer Stoffregen (Loves Park, IL) and Morgan Nicholson (Longwood, FL) that set a new school record with a time of 3:50.46, breaking the 2010 record set by Matchinske-Brehmer, Parsons, Law and Jones (3:55.64). Other top finishers include Somer Stroffregen who was third in the 1650 free with a time of 19:28.39, Morgan Nicholson who was second in the 100 free (55.98) and fourth in the 50 free with a time of 25.66.
The Men's 200 free relay (John Rose III (Upland, CA/Ruben S Ayala), Mesach Roberts (Nassau, Bahamas/Queens’ College), David Morris (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Anne’s School) and Joe Stephenson (Milwaukee, WI/Shorewood) led the way for the Bucs placing first (1:33.76). Other top finishers for the men included Stephenson who was fifth in the 50 free (22.57)n both the 50 free (22.83) and Roberts who was fourth in the 400 yard IM (4:53.39).
Beloit will be hosting Knox College at 1:00pm in Kresge Natatorium on Saturday, Feb. 3, for senior day. The Bucs will recognize 4 seniors: Heather Warner, Katie Kennedy, David Ortiz and Sami Haubrich.
