Beloit College softball has been picked to finish ninth in the 2018 Midwest Conference coaches' poll.
The Buccaneers finished 2017 with an 8-28 record including 5-13 MWC mark. This season, the Bucs will field a young team featuring 12 first-years and sophomores.
Sophomore outfielder Madi Christine (Huntington Beach, Calif.) returns to the diamond after a breakout first-year campaign. Christine led Beloit with a .329 batting average and four triples en route to Second Team All-MWC recognition. She was second on the team in runs (13) and posted the third-most hits (28).
Outfielder/third baseman Emily Malarski (Chicago, Ill.) is the lone senior returning for Beloit. Malarski led the Buccaneers in runs (14), hits (30) and walks (17) in 2017.
In the circle, Beloit returns juniors Alyssa Boltik (Elm Grove, Wis.) and Sonya Myscofski (Normal, Ill.) while welcoming in six first-year dual role pitchers/position players.
The Bucs are slated to open the 2018 season at the ACM Tournament at the Rochester Dome in Minnesota March 3-4 before heading to Kissimmee, Fla. for their annual spring trip.
