Lake Forest, IL -- The Beloit College Softball team battled in game one but had no answer in game two of a doubleheader loss at Lake Forest College on Wednesday afternoon, falling 7-2 and 13-0. The games were the Bucs first true road games since March 26 at UW-Platteville.
In the opener, the Bucs fell behind 3-0 after two innings as LFC scored twice in the first and once in the second. April Apfelbaum's two-run single in the fourth brought Beloit back within 3-2 but the Foresters closed out the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the inning for the final score.
Apfelbaum finished with two of the Buccaneer's four hits in the game.
The nightcap was all Foresters, starting with an eight-run first inning. They added one in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth while keeping Beloit off the scoreboard to end the game early.
The Bucs got singles from Emalie Thern and Alex Kohn for their only hits in the game.
Beloit has a long weekend ahead on the road, with a pair of Midwest Conference dolubleheaders in Iowa, beginning Saturday afternoon at Grinnell College.
