Buccaneer Softball Squad to Host Softball Skills and Softball Prospect Camp Series

November 18, 2016

The Beloit College Softball team will be hosting two winter camp series during the months of January and February.  Camps are geared toward fastpitch softball players in the third through 12th grades and will be held at the Beloit College Sports Center and Marvin Fieldhouse on campus.

The Softball Skills Camp, which will be limited to 30 participants, is scheduled to run for three Sundays, January 22nd, February 5th and February 21th from 1:00-3:00 pm and is for players in 3rd-8th grades.  The camp will focus on all of the fundamental defensive and offensive skills and softball strategies.  On February 12th participants will take part in softball competitions and a scrimmage coached by Beloit College coaches and players teaching them many in-game adjustments followed by dinner with their team coaches from the camp.  Cost for the three week camp is $120.

The Softball Elite Prospect Camp will be a three week camp series scheduled for Sundays January 22nd, February 5th and February 12th from 3:15-5:15 and is for players in 9th-12th grades who are looking to compete in college. This camp will break down fundamental softball techniques and skills and challenge players both mentally and physically throughout the three session camp.  On February 12th participants are invited to have lunch with current team players, take a campus tour and attend an admissions informational session regarding Beloit College prior to competing in a scrimmage coached by Beloit College coaches and players.  Enrollment for this clinic is limited to the first 30 preregistered players.  The cost for this camp series is $120.

Camp activities are structured similar to Buccaneer Softball team practices.  Athletes will be challenged with new drills and skills that will improve their offensive and defensive fundamentals.  They will participate in competitive and challenging game simulations that expose athletes to situations that will build their softball IQ.  During their time with us, athletes will be held to high standards that push them to excel and maximize their potential.

Participants receive a clinic t-shirt with registration fees.

For more information, please call Beloit College Softball Coach Kim Zarling at 608-363-2251 or e-mail zarlingk@beloit.edu.  Clinic brochures and registration forms can also be found on the Buccaneer Softball web page.
