The Beloit College men’s soccer team fell to 0-2 on the season after a 6-1 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran College Sunday afternoon in Beloit.
The first half was a battle as the teams fought for possession and the early lead. The Warriors struck first on a goal in the 30th minute.
In the 39th minute, the Bucs would tally the equalizer. On a ball sent into the box, WLC’s keeper came out to punch the ball away as a Buccaneer player was going up for the header. The pair collided and the keeper was dealt a yellow card. With the foul occurring in the box, Jose Gutierrez lined up to take the penalty kick. After a quick hesitation stutter step, Gutierrez planted, connected and found the back of the net near the left side post to knot the game 1-1.
The teams would take that score into halftime.
The Warriors increased the tempo and pushed forward in the second half tallying five goals in the period to put the game out of reach.
Bucs keeper Alex Lyon made some fantastic saves in the game recording eight in the contest.
Beloit will head to Loves Park, Illinois to face Rockford University at the Mercyhealth Sportscore Wednesday, September 5. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
