Beloit, WI -- On a very rainy and windy Saturday afternoon, the Bucs beat the weather, and the visiting Ripon College Redhawks 2-0 for a much-needed MWC win.
A huge first of the season for the Buccaneer back-line, as a tremendous effort by the defensive unit was able to hold the Redhawks to only 8 shots in the game, and none on frame.
GK Jere Bauer went the distance in net, directing a stalwart effort of the defense, while not recording a stat. In net for the Redhawks, Jimmy Amedeo went the full 90 minutes, making 13 saves while allowing 2 goals.
Also, in a stark contrast from last weeks shooting woes against the Foresters, The Buccaneer offense went off in less than ideal conditions, combining for almost 30 shots in the game, as they finished with 27, and 15 on frame.
Leading the way for the Buccaneer shooters were Jose Gutierrez and Daniel Stockton, both with 4 shots a piece. Gutierrez deposited the games first goal of the day in the 1st half, from a PK in the 29th minute. Stockton followed up suit to knock in what would be the insurance goal, in the 77th minute off an assist from Connor Peterson.
The Bucs would out-shoot the Redhawks in the 2nd half 12-2.
The Buccaneer Men have off the rest of the week to recharge and game plan for another necessary MWC match-up as the Fighting Scots of Monmouth College come to Strong Stadium on Saturday, October 14th. Match is scheduled for 3:30 PM
