Chicago, Ill. -- The Bucs got their first win on the road, shutting out the Scarlet Hawks of IIT, 2-0.
Senior goalie Jere Bauer took a long week in net, and made it even better. After playing the last 34 minutes in net against Rockford on Wednesday and holding the Regents to no goals, Bauer stood on his head tonight against the Scarlet Hawks, registering 10 saves in 90 minutes of action.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Bucs would have trouble finding shots, as IIT actually out-shot the Bucs 22-7 in the contest.
However, the two that mattered most were the only ones that counted. Beloit went up quickly in the first frame, as Jose Gutierrez put one past the Scarlet Hawk keeper with only 8 minutes having gone by on the clock.
That would turn out to be the game-winner, as IIT was blanked by the Buccaneer defense and goalie Bauer.
Daniel Stockton would add an insurance marker in the 88th minute to wrap up the game for the Bucs.
Beloit moves to 3-4 on the season, and will stay on the road, as they travel to Grinnell College this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1:30 PM.
