Jacksonville, IL -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team had their momentum stopped with a pair of Midwest Conference road losses over the weekend, falling at Monmouth College 2-1 in two overtimes on Saturday before suffering a 4-1 setback at Illinois College Sunday.
In Sunday's match the Blueboys grabbed the lead for good in the 28th minute and never looked back. They added three goals in a 17-minute span of the second half, the middle score on a penalty kick, to move up 4-0.
Martin Garrett-Curie got Beloit on the board at the 86:16 mark with a penalty kick score.
Jere Bauer made five saves in nearly 80 minutes of play before Asa Hatten finished up in goal. IC controlled play with 14 shots to the Bucs' four and held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Back on Saturday the Fighting Scots struck first at 56:19 but Emmett Hendrickson tied it up at 1-all with an unassisted goal off the post and crossbar. The game stayed 1-1 into overtime.
After Monmouth put two shots on goal with no scoring in the first 10 minutes of extra time MC took the match three minutes into the second OT.
Bauer made 11 saves in goal for the Bucs. The Fighting Scots held a commanding 25-5 advantage in shots for the game and took seven corner kicks to the Buccaneers' two.
Beloit is off until next Saturday when they travel to St. Norbert College for a 1:00 p.m. match
