Bucs Settle for Overtime Tie at Cornell

October 1, 2016

Mt. Vernon, IA -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team battled to a 1-1 two-overtime tie at Cornell College on Saturday, snapping a four-game loss streak.

The teams played scoreless thru the first 45 minutes and 10 minutes into the second half before Andrei Vile scored unassisted at 55:52, his first collegiate goal, to put the Buccaneers on top.  That lead held until the Rams put in the game-tying score with just under five minutes left in regulation to force the extra time.

Neither squad had a shot on goal in the extra 20 minutes, giving Beloit their first tie finish since September 5 of last season against Blackburn College.

Jere Bauer made seven saves in net for the Bucs.  Cornell had the advantage in shots 23-8 and corner kicks 7-1.

The Bucs are back in action Tuesday at Ripon College.  Action begins at 4:00 p.m.
