Big Second Half Snaps Buccaneers' Win Streak

September 14, 2016

Beloit, WI -- The Beloit College Men's Soccer team couldn't overcome a big second half by Marian University in a 3-1 loss at the Strong Complex Soccer Field Wednesday.  The loss snapped a three-game Buccaneer winning streak.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes the Sabres broke thru just over two minutes into the second half.  Three minutes later they tacked on a second goal to make it a 2-0 deficit.

Beloit cut that deficit in half when Isaiah Turner-Wyatt knocked in an assist from Jose Gutierrez at the 61:13 mark.  But MU regained the two-goal advantage at 72:18 and then held the Bucs at bay the last 17-plus minutes.

Jere Bauer and Alex Lyon split the game in net, with Bauer making two saves in the first half and Lyon three in the second.  Marian out-shot Beloit 13-8, including 10-4 in the second.  The Buccaneers had four corner kicks to the Sabres' three.

The match was the final tune-up before Beloit moves into Midwest Conference play, hosting Lake Forest College on Sunday at the Strong field.  Action kicks off at 1:00 p.m.
